Quick Summary

  • Top Tip: Whilst many parts of Spain are still relatively undiscovered if you’re visiting popular areas such as Barcelona, try to visit in the off season. Crowds and prices will be much more agreeable!

  • Currency: Euro

  • Visa: Spain is part of the EU and the Schengen Area. Citizens of EU countries will not need a visa, anyone outside will have to apply for a visa before arriving.

  • Safety: Spain is very safe. You may not feel a warm welcome in Barcelona because of the current anti-tourism climate in the city.

  • When to go: Spain becomes incredibly busy, popular and expensive during the European Summer holidays (end of July - start of September). We love the visiting in March/April and October as it is still warm and not too busy.

    • Peak Season: July - September (Summer school holidays)

    • Off Season: December - March (excluding Christmas).

  • Walk My World Cost Index: $$$$ - Spain is one of the cheaper countries in Western Europe, but it is still pretty pricey.
